| Ctein, California fine
art photographer and dye-transfer printer maker
Ctein presented his work in Toronto on Thursday, September 4.
There's a story below that tells you about Ctein. The photos were
wonderful, both artistically and technically. If you ever get a
chance to see dye transfer prints, jump at it. The session was at
Club Lucky, Kit Kat Too, an excellent restaurant where the second
floor was provided to us courtesy of owner Al Carbone, one of the
powers behind the Toronto Entertainment District.

Below is the announcement BAK issued: CTEIN IS SHOWING HIS PHOTOGRAPHS California-based landscape and fine art photographer, Ctein, equally well known for his extraordinary fine art photographs and his easy-to-understand highly technical articles in Photo Techniques magazine, is in Toronto, on vacation from his home in California, but has agreed to requests to show his photographs and talk about photography while here. The presentation, which is free of charge, is on Thursday, September 4, at the Club Lucky / Kit Kat Too Restaurant, at 117 John Street, between Richmond Street West and Adelaide Street West, in Toronto’s Entertainment District. Guests are invited for 7 p.m., to be seated at 7:25 for a presentation beginning at 7:30. Everyone interested in fine art photography, landscape photography and fine photographic printing is welcome to attend. You can learn more about Ctein and his work at http://www.plaidworks.com/ctein/ Ctein will concentrate on the three projects - Christmas in California, the Hawaii portfolio, and the Jewels of Kilauea-- although he will show a modest selection from his broader portfolio. The focus of the discussion will be artistic, not technical. Toronto communications consultant and photographer Brian Kilgore met Ctein through the CompuServe Photography Forum, and when Kilgore learned Ctein was coming to Toronto not only wanted to meet Ctein in person himself, but knew many others would love the chance to see high quality dye-transfer landscape photographs in person. Al Carbone, owner of Club Lucky, agreed to provide the second floor of his popular restaurant for the event. There will be a cash bar, open before and after the presentation. "This is one of those rare events that’s hard to describe," Kilgore says, "where anyone with the right interest will have a wonderful evening learning about their hobby, avocation or art, an evening they will never forget. It’s free, and there are no strings attached. Anyone who wants to know more can contact me at BrianKilgore@BrianKilgore.com." "I’ve invited business associates who love photographs, and the technician at the lab where I get my own pictures printed. Collectors of fine art, or hobbiests, are both welcome."
