IABC 2005 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON, D.C. Celebrating its 35th Anniversary in International CommunicationsSAN FRANCISCO, CA – 26 June 2005 – The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), with lead sponsor Microsoft Office Live Meeting, is celebrating its 35th Anniversary at the IABC 2005 International Conference in Washington, D.C., 26-29 June 2005. During these exciting information-packed days, more than 1,200 communicators from 30 countries will meet to explore issues, trends and best practices with nearly 100 business and communication experts leading plenary sessions, think tanks, interactive workshops and seminars. Future trends, issues and competencies will be central themes throughout the conference with an emphasis on innovative approaches and solutions to today’s communication and PR challenges. On Sunday 26 June, the conference’s Opening General Session presents a keynote address of James Carville and Mary Matalin, Washington’s most famous political strategists and husband-and-wife team: an entertaining and enlightening look at international politics and the issues that continue to shape the new millennium. On Monday 27 June, Lord Gould of Brookwood, the leading European strategist on politics and political affairs, is hosting the general session “The Leadership Lessons of Tony Blair”. Lord Gould has been the central figure in the modernization of the British Labour Party and an adviser to Prime Minister Tony Blair on a regular basis. The 35th Anniversary Luncheon will feature Jennifer Corriero, co-founder of TakingITGlobal.org, speaking on “Connecting with Youth.” Afternoon general sessions will include Jack Daly and Bridget Coffing, top executives from McDonald’s Corporation, on “Strategic Communications in a Successful Turnaround.” On Tuesday June 28, the general session features Robert Levering, co-author of Fortune’s annual list of the 100 Best Companies to Work for in America, on “Communication Makes a Great Place to Work.” The afternoon Research Foundation Luncheon and Seminar focuses on “Intranet, Paper, or Face-to-Face: What Each Channel Does Best” by T.J. Larkin, Ph.D. On Wednesday June 28, the closing general session is featuring Mark Hurd, CEO and President of Hewlett-Packard, and the IABC’s 2005 EXCEL Award Winner, speaking on “Transformational Leader: The CEO’s Perspective on Communication.” The conference will feature learning sessions in seven educational tracks: employee communication, public relations, strategy & counsel, marketing & brand, business management, skills development and future trends.
