SEARS GALA Photographs PERSONAL PORTRAITS I'm delighted with the number of requests I am receiving, asking me to shoot portraits of individuals. It's long been a serious part of my business, but until recently most of the shooting has been on behalf of corporations or government departments. A great many portraits were of authors, used for book covers and publicity. But now the requests are coming for photographs for mantels and frames in homes, and for desks at the office to remind hard workers of their loved ones.
	MY FRIEND JANE I got a note from this beautiful woman, saying "I thought the portraits that you did of me were lovely and I get a lot of compliments on them." I love to hear this, perhaps even more so than the people in the pictures. Jane has been a friend for a long time, and I know that inside she's just as beautiful as the pictures shows she is outside.

I just love the deadly serious picture, left, and it does reflect the power within her. But most of the time, in the portraits and in real life, there's more of a smile on her face.

An In-Studio portrait session, followed by a studio neighborhood walk-around candid session for one person. Total time up to approximately two hours. You choose from among at least 10 images chosen by me from the best of the entire session, which will have at least 50 shots taken.

The $175 package includes one 8x10 print, three 5x7 prints, and six 4x6 prints. Plus internet-friendly computer files of the frames you choose. Pay $75 at photo session, and balance on delivery of the prints. Other packages available.

You are photographed together and individually. You choose from among at least 10 images of each of you, plus several of you together, chosen by me from the best of the entire session, which will have at least 75 shots taken.

Package includes for each of you one 8x10 print, three 5x7 prints, and six 4x6 prints, from your choice of individual or two-person photographs. Here's why I'm making this discount offer
In October I took a portrait of a man and woman, together and individually. The project was a gift to them by a friend, and when I showed that friend a few of the shots, she told me she was really pleased she'd decided to give the portrait session as a gift. And she knew her friends' families would love to have these prints as Christmas presents.

Several days later, I was introduced to the sister of a young woman I know, both in Toronto from several provinces away. It struck me then that their parents would love a nice portrait of the two sisters as they establish themselves in their new lives far from home. But they're still in school, and don't have much money.

After this, I ran into another student I know, a young woman I've already photographed. She mentioned how much her mother and father enjoy her portrait, now that she's moved out of town to university. After that, I got talking to a mother, who lives out of town, in the hospital, and her daughter, who lives in Toronto. It seemed to me this mom would love a nice shot of her daughter, but the daughter is struggling with a first job, low pay, expensive apartment (even the cheap ones are expensive). And finally, as I started to organize this package I got talking to another university student who's immediate reaction was, "What a great idea!"

	BY THE BARN This was an informal outdoor portrait session, and in addition to the "straight" portraits below we experimented afterwards, adding the antique stone border in the picture at the left. The border treatment has received mixed reaction, with some loving it, and some thinking it just gets in the way.
